A Few facts about the club and 18 plus....
Where?
West Kent Plus is a Social group that meets at 8,30pm every
Tuesday at The Rose and Crown pub, Grosvenor road, Tunbridge Wells,
and most weekends to participate in a wide range of fun and new activities.
How Many?
The Club currently has about 20 regular members
and is always looking to welcome new members. We try to have a wide
range of different activities, from sporting to pubs to holidays. Basically
the club is run by its members for its members!
Cost?
The membership fee is £35, and we also
pay £1 a week subs, though this is used
to subsidise one event a quarter (last time was a free meal at a pizza
restaurant paid for by the club)
What is 18 plus?
If you ask a Group of members 'What is 18 Plus?'
You could get quite a few answers. This is because 18 Plus caters for
many different interests and has activities to suit everyone. l8 Plus
is a multi-activities organisation for people aged between 18 and 36.
Connections
18 Plus holds no allegiance to any other organisation,
Political or religious. We are not associated with any over l8's holiday
Club or dating agency. 18 Plus is an organisation for making new friends
And meeting old ones.
Activities
Every week throughout the country members meet
to participate in activities ranging from cinema trips to ice skating,
from quizzes to sports, from charity events to discos. Each Group in
the country has its own events run by its own members as committees.
Groups
Each Group decides a programme of events so people
do not just come down to be entertained, but can sit and get to know
each other.
Events
These events are open to all members and 18 Plus
thrives on inter Group visits. These give members the chance to meet
new people and try new things.
Area
Every Group is part of an Area. The Area Committee
is made up of Group members and they are elected annually at a local
conference. The Area committee also run events on behalf of Group members
which tend to take place at a weekend.
Atmosphere
No amount of written publicity can do justice
to the unique atmosphere of 18 Plus. It is probably the only organisation
where you have a real chance to meet people from all over the country
and have a say in the way your Federation is run.
Organisation
As 18 Plus is run by its members for its members,
the events are constantly changing to reflect their interests. The organisation
has changed a great deal since it was opened as a debating society for
young men in the 1940's.
Development
It will continue to change as we move into the
millennium and beyond. All committees welcome ideas for new events.
Perhaps your ideas will have a large part to play in the continued development
of the Federation.
